Introducing “The Rose Tattoo”, which is part of my contemplation series. This was a lot of work and I have gained a great respect for the tattoo artist who designed the model’s body art. I have always wanted to do a painting of a man with a tattoo. The biggest challenges, of course, were to make the figure three dimensional and have the tattoo appear like it was on his skin.
I was thrilled to find out that my oil painting “Study in Gray” was awarded Honorable Mention in the Contemporary Art Gallery’s All Paintings Women Competition for January. A group exhibition of all entrants will be held online at the Contemporary Art Gallery Online during the month of February 2016.
My newest piece is “The Gold Bangle”. This pastel portrait of a young woman is 14×18 pastel on paper done from my source photos. The model is Katrina Sherwood, who is also a muse for Cuong Nguyen. I had the pleasure of painting her at a workshop at Cuong’s studio. She modeled for several reference shots for me, so I have several future works in mind.
